This Year's Model Updates:

The Grand Prix underwent a redesign for 2004, but those familiar with the big sedan will find its blend of performance and comfort hasn't changed much.

Pros:
  • Strong supercharged V6, nimble handling, attractive gauges, easy-to-use controls, big trunk, fold-flat front-passenger seat.
Cons:
  • Build and materials quality still needs work, tight backseat, noisy engine, not enough storage or cupholders, no auto climate control.

  • Bad Transmission - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
    By -

I have a 2004 Pontiac grand prix It was a great car till the transmission went out on I 90.. I had it towed home took the trans pan off and found chips in the pan. cleaned it and changed the filter but it would not move it was shot. I never drove it hard but I bought the car with 27,000 miles on it every now and then it would hesitate before it went into gear but always ran fine once you got going, could not believe it went out so soon.I was hoping to get at least 100,000 miles out of it.It always ran fine as far as the motor goes but the transmission has serious issues. I am going to try and replace the trans and see what happens because I like the way the car handles in the snow. Thanks

its a beautiful vehicle with a lot of base options that would make anyone want the car. The build quality is HORRIBLE. I have had it in for service 12 times in the past 2 years and they have not been able to fix anything. The power steer pump has leaked twice as well as a co-worker rented one and and had the same problem. It collects mildew in the window sills and will smell everytime you open the window during the summer. I have been a die hard GM fan for life, but save your money and get something else... this car is JUNK!

  • My First Pontiac - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

This is my first GM Product - I was considering an import (Acura TL, Maxima, etc.) but I am very happy with this. Very quiet, the engine is strong, and handling is very confidence inspiring. The transmission shifts with precision and always seems to be in the right gear. If you enjoy spirited driving, this car will defintely put a smile on your face. The 90 degree opening rear doors and fold down seats (including front) make the car very handy at Home Depot. Lots of comfortable interior room, and all the controls are easy to reach and operate nicely. Ive had no problems this 1st year (15,000 miles) and plan to keep the car for many more.

  • Disappointing 04 GP - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
    By -

Im really disapointed...only 5 exterior colors. Wheel design is poor. Styling is as bluh as you can get. A change was way way over do, but I was hoping after 7 years Pontiac would have done a better job. The "cloth" interior looks cheap...like it came out of a striped down pick-up. What were they thinking??? Is GM trying to go out of business???

Just thought I would drp in revview for the 2004 pontiac grand prix gt2. Since day one when i started looking for a new car i was looking at buying another pontiac. So i went to the selling dealer of my last 4 pontiacs and got some quotes on prices for the 04, the prices were not bad at all.Have not had any problems with the car since day one and it runs pretty good just wish there was a little more pep . Other than that I have taken it on long trips and it is comfortable for me and my family.I have hauled wood in it with the front seat folded down(very nice feature).Other than that thats about it.I would not hesitate to buy another one .

  • Finally Arrived from GM - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

This is a great looking car, which handles extremely well. Stopping power is excellent. This is my 18th General Motors product, most of which have been Pontiacs, Bonneville SSEs and SSEi. This is the best put together car that I have ever owned from General Motors. Everything fits exactly the way it is supposed to, from interior to exterior.

  • Descent little car - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I traded my 06 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Hemi for this car. Overall, the car is okay. I miss having a truck though. The car had 51k miles when I got it. Its got 61k miles and theres been some problems with it. The stability track module went bad, the moonroof doesnt function properly, window motors went bad. Thankfully, the car has a maxcare warranty from CarMax thats good for 100k miles. The previous owner kept detailed maintenance recds. I cant wait to trade this car in for something bigger and more powerful.

One of GMs best held secrets. You get a lot of car for your money and outclasses its competion in most instances. Do your home work ,compare, test drive them, youll be impressed just like I was.
